Ended up being a pretty good day.  At the start, I felt great and cruised the first 8 miles through Veyo.  Through Dammeron Valley, the foot and hips started to bother me and I was glad I found Jeff to give me some ibuprofen.  Thanks to my sister Louise for the chocolate milk - always nice to have a little something at mile 10.  The next few miles seemed to drag but were better miles since there was some downhill to the course.  I always like those miles through Snow Canyon and Winchester.  I was just hoping to get to the ward aid station which is at almost mile 20.  I was feeling pretty beat up as I entered the ward aid station.  The foot was really bothering me, the hips were struggling, and I had been stopping for icy hot for the calves.  I found Bum and he hooked me up with some V8, Mtn, Dew, and some wonder drugs.  I don't know what worked the best but after another mile or so, the foot became a bit tolerable and the hip pain moved away so I just kinda went with it.  I was able, from miles 22 on in, keep a pretty good pace which was great.  It was great to see Carrie and the family as I came into town and give me some encouragement.  I turned to diagonal street and low and behold there was Scott Carlson with a Mtn. Dew code red.... just what the doctor ordered!  That went down smooth and I caught Jeff and gave him the other half of the Dew.  Fully loaded, I picked up my pace and took off.  I had been watching my watch and thought that I could make 4:15 if I really picked it up.  My pace kept on keeping on and I just felt good so I didn't get out of that zone.  Ended up at 4:17 so that will be great!  Another great year and now on to the 10 yr club and the dinner :)
